Looking for a party decoration that’s fun to make, budget-friendly, and totally reusable? Forget single-use streamers and try this DIY felt paperchain! It’s quick, easy, and perfect for adding a pop of colour to birthdays, baby showers, or even Christmas and Halloween. The best part? You can store the strips flat and reuse them again and again.
What You’ll Need:
-
A4 felt sheets (in colours to match your theme)
-
Scissors
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Cut your strips
Take your A4 felt sheet and fold it in half lengthways. Cut along the fold line. Fold each piece in half again lengthways, and cut. That’ll give you 4 strips.
Step 2: Make your clever cuts
On each strip, make a small cut halfway through the short side at each end — but here’s the trick: cut one end from one side and one end from the other side (see cut lines above). This will let your chain link together without glue or staples!
Step 3: Create your links
Slide the notched ends over one another to form a circle. Congratulations — you’ve made your first link!
Step 4: Keep linking
Repeat with the rest of your strips, linking each circle into the chain as you go. Mix and match colours to suit your theme — think a mixture of pastels and rainbow brights to suit any celebration.
Step 5: Style it up
Once you’ve got your chain as long as you like, hang it along a wall, across a table, or above a doorway. To finish the look, add three balloons at each end for a fun, festive touch.
💡 Our recommendation: Pair your felt chain with our Evergarland reusable PVC balloons — eco-friendly, long-lasting, and the perfect match for your sustainable celebration style.
